CROSS COUNTRY
Fall 2024 Season

Athletic Clearance

Athletes need to obtain athletic clearance to practice, join the roster, and compete in meets.  In other words - you can't do anything with the team until you are cleared!

Practice Schedule

This is a competitive team, and success in cross country requires consistent time in training.  Beginning on August 12, practices will be held 4-6pm, Monday through Friday, and 9-10:30am on Saturdays.  Most training will take place at or very near the school, some will take place at nearby county regional parks like Foothill or Riverfront. To participate on the team, athletes must commit to attending 4 or more practices weekly.  Typical weekly training mileage will range from 20 miles per week for novice-level runners to more than 50 miles per week for a few advanced varsity level athletes.

Competition Schedule

We anticipate participating in around 11 "regular season" competitions this year, with about half them on Saturdays (requiring some regional travel of 1-2 hrs) and the other half after school, during the week and relatively local.  We will have two overnight travel meets for a limited roster.  The first inter-scholastic competition is scheduled for Friday, August 30, and the competitive season will last through at least November 9 (NBL Championships), and perhaps a few weeks longer for athletes that qualify for post-season competitions!

Fundraising and Volunteering

A quality experience for a competitive high school cross country team requires resources - both in terms of financial funding and volunteer hours.  While not a requirement to participate on the team, we ask athletes and families to participate in fundraising efforts to offset the costs we will incur such as meet entry fees, cash transportation expenses, uniform expenses, and year end awards.  Similarly, we will ask families to volunteer time by signing up for car-pools to local parks for some workouts and competitions, host team dinners, or to help conduct a very few local meets.
